From their ancestral European roots in Kulmbach, Bavaria, to an adventurous new start in America, and all the way up to the modern Internet age, the Zapf family has always been dedicated to music. L. Zapf And Sons was opened in Philadelphia in 1928 by trained German luthier Sofian Zapf to teach music and repair violins and other stringed instruments. The family business quickly expanded to repairing and selling woodwind and brasswind instruments, moving on to banjos, mandolins, and guitars as the American music scene evolved. L. Zapf And Sons kept on changing with the times, too, as Sofian retired and new family members developed the company into the Music123 brand we know and love today. Under the Zapf family's direction, Music123 has developed a reputation of excellence for their innovation, service, and selection.
